Symptoms of keratoconus include increasing myopia and irregular astigmatism, which occur in parallel with changes in the cornea's shape and refractive power. This leads to a gradual deterioration in vision level and quality. As the disease progresses, visual acuity and quality significantly decrease; in very advanced and uncontrolled cases, corneal hydrops and subsequent permanent corneal scarring may be observed.
