Patients with achalasia who have undergone POEM treatment are required to consume liquid and pureed foods during their hospital stay. Typically, patients are discharged after a 2-3 day stay. It is important to continue with liquid and soft foods for the first two weeks after leaving the hospital. Following this two-week period, a gradual transition to a normal diet can be made. However, it is recommended to permanently avoid foods that can cause reflux, opt for small, frequent meals, and ensure food is fully chewed before swallowing.
