Fatty liver disease (steatosis) often presents with mild symptoms initially or no symptoms at all, which is why it is frequently diagnosed during routine blood tests or imaging methods such as ultrasonography. However, as the disease progresses, various symptoms may emerge.
Common Symptoms:
* Chronic fatigue and weakness
* Unexplained weight loss and loss of appetite
* Nausea or vomiting
* Pain or discomfort in the upper right quadrant of the abdomen
* Swelling in the legs and abdomen (edema)
* Skin itching
* Yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes (jaundice)
* Darkening of urine color
* Increased tendency to bleed and bruise
* Prominent spider-web-like capillaries on the skin (spider angiomas)
* Enlargement of the liver (hepatomegaly)
* Irregular menstrual cycles in women
When the disease reaches advanced stages and begins to cause liver damage, more severe symptoms such as vomiting blood, black stools, and significant darkening of urine color may be observed.
