Rectal cancer is observed more frequently in men than in women. Thanks to advances in modern medical imaging and endoscopic methods, rectal cancer can now be diagnosed earlier and more accurately. Increased public awareness and the widespread adoption of screening programs are leading to an increase in the number of diagnosed cases. Globally, approximately 1 million people are diagnosed with colon and rectal cancer each year. Although precise data is not available in our country, it is estimated that around 30,000 people are diagnosed with colon and rectal cancer annually. The most common type of rectal cancer is adenocarcinoma, which originates from the mucosa lining the inner surface of the intestine.
