For singleton pregnancies, conception through IVF does not inherently increase the risk of miscarriage; these pregnancies are monitored similarly to naturally conceived pregnancies. However, multiple pregnancies, which are more common with IVF, do carry an elevated risk of miscarriage. Furthermore, infertile couples, irrespective of how they conceive, generally have a higher predisposition to genetic anomalies compared to the general population. This underlying factor means that pregnancies in these couples (whether achieved naturally or via IVF) may face a relatively higher risk of genetic issues and, consequently, miscarriage.
