Torticollis, also known as wry neck, is generally divided into two main types: congenital (present at birth) torticollis and acquired torticollis. Congenital Torticollis: This type is typically present at birth, often stemming from a shortened sternocleidomastoid muscle. It usually becomes noticeable within the first two months of an infant's life as their head and neck movement abilities develop. Acquired Torticollis: Unlike congenital torticollis, this type develops later in life and can result from various factors such as injuries, viral infections, or inflammatory conditions.
