The TLC (Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes) Diet is a widely recognized nutrition program for cholesterol management. It was developed in the United States by the National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) for individuals with high cholesterol. This diet aims to lower cholesterol levels without the need for cholesterol-lowering medications by increasing the consumption of fiber-rich foods and significantly restricting fat-containing foods. Its core principles include deriving less than 7% of total calories from saturated fat and keeping daily dietary cholesterol intake below 200 mg. The TLC diet also recommends a sufficient but not excessive calorie intake to maintain an ideal weight and prevent weight gain.
