Irritation of the skin tissue surrounding the perianal fistula may be observed. Swelling and redness may appear around the anus. Pain is typically experienced during daily activities such as moving, sitting, coughing, and defecation. Blood and pus may be present with bowel movements. A foul-smelling discharge may also occur.
