There is no known permanent cure for PFAPA syndrome. Treatment is generally aimed at alleviating symptoms and controlling attacks. Antipyretic medications are used, especially during high fever attacks. Medications such as corticosteroids (single dose) and colchicine can also be beneficial in reducing the frequency and severity of attacks. Additionally, tonsillectomy (surgical removal of the tonsils) is considered an effective surgical treatment option for PFAPA syndrome.
