Mammography is a critical screening method for the early detection of breast cancer. Tomosynthesis, on the other hand, is a type of digital mammography developed with current technology. This advanced method is used both for early diagnosis in individuals who show no symptoms but carry a risk due to family history, and in the diagnostic process for patients with symptoms of breast cancer. The difference between tomosynthesis and classic mammography is its ability to obtain a 3D image of the breast. The high-resolution digital images obtained are examined in much greater detail on special monitors. Thanks to this 3D and detailed imaging, specialist doctors can evaluate all layers of the breast, enabling them to detect small lesions and tumors that could lead to breast cancer much earlier and more accurately.
