In recent years, minimally invasive (laparoscopic) methods are increasingly preferred for hernia surgeries. These closed techniques are primarily applied through two approaches: Total Extraperitoneal (TEP), performed between the peritoneum and the skin, and Transabdominal Preperitoneal (TAPP), performed from within the abdominal cavity. Laparoscopic surgery can be preferred unless there are any contraindications. Patients can usually eat, drink, and mobilize within 5-6 hours after surgical treatment. They are generally monitored in the hospital for one night and discharged the following day.
