The precise cause of aneurysmal bone cysts (ABCs) is not fully understood. Pain is often initially mild but can progressively worsen. Significant symptoms typically do not manifest unless a fracture occurs due to mechanical weakening of the bone. Occasionally, ABCs are incidentally discovered during X-rays performed for unrelated conditions. The cyst can lead to thinning of the bone cortex, making it susceptible to fractures or cracks even after minor trauma. In such cases, swelling and pain become more pronounced.
