Botox application can be used as a temporary option in the treatment of achalasia due to its ability to inhibit muscle contractions. However, the effect of botox injections is short-lived, does not provide a permanent cure, and requires regular repetitions. Repeated applications can lead to the development of fibrotic tissue in the lower part of the esophagus. Considering these factors, botox is generally not considered a primary preferred method in the treatment of achalasia.
