The Non-Stress Test (NST) can generally be performed after the 32nd week of pregnancy to assess the health and well-being of the fetus. However, not every pregnant woman may need this test. An NST may be deemed necessary by a physician, especially in the following situations:
* When the due date has passed
* Diagnosis of a high-risk pregnancy
* A perceived decrease in fetal movements
* If the fetus is small for its gestational age (intrauterine growth restriction)
* Multiple pregnancies
* If the fetus is Rh negative
