Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) is a protein found in high concentrations in prostate tissue and semen, with only a small amount normally released into the bloodstream. In conditions such as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), a moderate increase in PSA blood levels can be observed corresponding to the increase in prostate volume. However, significant or abnormal increases in PSA levels may be associated with the following conditions:
Prostate cancer
Prostatitis (prostate inflammation)
Prostate biopsy
Prostate infarction
Urinary tract surgeries such as Transurethral Resection (TUR)
Acute urinary retention
Ejaculation
Prostate massage
