Otosclerosis is a progressive disease. Even years after the initial surgery, patients may experience similar symptoms. In such cases, a second or third surgical intervention may be considered. During revisional surgeries, if the opening in the stapes bone where the prosthesis was placed has closed, it can be reopened, and a new prosthesis can be inserted.
