Adenitis can occur in any age group. While adenitis in childhood is typically infection-related, its appearance in adults should prompt an evaluation for serious lymph node-related conditions, particularly malignancies. In early childhood, especially between 3 and 5 years of age, small-sized lymph node enlargements are frequently observed in the neck, armpit, and groin areas. These occurrences are most often associated with upper respiratory tract infections, common colds, or diarrhea. Although generally benign, the potential for malignancy in developing lymph nodes increases with age. The size of the lymph node is important; while it may vary depending on the location, lymph nodes reaching 2-3 cm or larger must be thoroughly investigated.
