The primary surgical methods used in the treatment of diaphragm paralysis are plication and diaphragm pacing surgeries, which support the mechanical function of the diaphragm. The most common complications after plication surgery include the re-elevation of the diaphragm, its mechanical dysfunction, and the recurrence of shortness of breath. Additionally, other complications such as bleeding due to surgery or diaphragm tear may occur. Complications that can be observed after diaphragm pacing surgery include the dislodgement of the electrode tip placed in the diaphragm or its inability to transmit sufficient signals, leading to shortness of breath. Since the diaphragm is a mechanical organ, issues arising after these surgeries due to pressure changes and the surgical technique used may recur.
