While medical therapy is initially applied in the treatment of tricuspid valve regurgitation, in advanced stages of the disease, medications may become insufficient, necessitating intervention on the valve. Traditionally, this intervention involved surgical methods such as valve repair or replacement. However, surgical approaches carry high risks, especially in advanced cases, leading to a long-standing search for non-surgical alternatives. The idea that the successful mitral valve clipping method could also be adapted for the tricuspid valve was promising. Nevertheless, anatomical differences between the two valves posed challenges for direct application of the mitral clip to the tricuspid valve, necessitating the development of a tricuspid-specific clip. This minimally invasive method, which has been implemented globally over the past one to two years, has been performed on approximately 2,000 patients to date. The tricuspid clip procedure, performed in specialized centers, offers a non-surgical treatment option, significantly improving the quality of life for patients with tricuspid valve regurgitation.
