In children aged 2-8, the concepts of ownership and sharing are not yet fully developed. Therefore, their taking an item without permission should often not be interpreted as a symptom of kleptomania; children in this age group may not fully grasp the necessity of asking for permission before taking something.
The underlying reasons for a child exhibiting such behaviors are usually related to parental attitudes. An overly disciplined approach, constant comparison of the child with peers, critical language, and insufficient positive feedback can create a basis for the emergence of this behavior. Furthermore, negative family dynamics such as tension or violence between parents can also lead to similar problems in children.
