Eosinophils are a specialized type of white blood cell (leukocyte) produced in the bone marrow and are a crucial component of the immune system. Belonging to the granulocyte group along with neutrophils and basophils, eosinophils play a key role particularly in defending against parasitic infections, modulating allergic reactions, and participating in certain inflammatory processes. These cells possess granules containing toxic proteins designed to target and destroy invading organisms. Through the release of these granules, they neutralize pathogens and contribute to tissue repair mechanisms.
