There is no cure for von Willebrand disease (vWD). However, the condition can usually be managed with medication and some simple lifestyle measures.

Three main medications can help stop bleeding. These are von Willebrand factor concentrates, available as a nasal spray or injection, tablets, and a mouthwash or injection. These medications can also be used before a procedure or surgery to reduce the risk of bleeding. If you have severe vWD, you may need to take them regularly to help prevent serious bleeds.
