The diagnostic process for Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) typically begins with a comprehensive medical evaluation. This evaluation includes taking a detailed medical history, where the patient's symptoms are discussed, followed by a thorough physical examination. During the physical examination, the doctor assesses for tenderness or the presence of an abscess in the pelvic region. Subsequently, a vaginal culture test is usually requested to identify bacteria in vaginal discharge. If necessary, additional laboratory tests and imaging methods may also be requested to confirm the diagnosis or rule out other conditions.
