Excess weight is a primary contributor to insulin resistance. As insulin resistance progresses, the body compensates by increasing insulin production to maintain stable blood sugar levels, leading to hyperinsulinemia. This metabolic state is closely linked to several conditions, including Type 2 Diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Consequently, individuals with PCOS have a significantly elevated risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. Notably, insulin resistance is frequently observed even in non-obese individuals with PCOS.
