Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a common virus that can lead to various health issues, primarily cervical cancer and genital warts. There are over 200 different types of HPV. These types are generally classified into high-risk and low-risk categories.
High-risk HPV types are particularly associated with cervical cancer and can also contribute to other genital and head-and-neck cancers, such as those of the penis, anus, and oropharynx. The most common high-risk types include HPV 16, HPV 18, HPV 31, HPV 33, HPV 45, HPV 52, and HPV 58.
Low-risk HPV types typically cause genital warts and are not directly linked to cancer. The most frequently observed low-risk types are HPV 6 and HPV 11.
