An Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) rupture is the tearing of the ACL, one of the primary ligaments in the knee responsible for stabilizing the joint, often due to excessive stretching or trauma. These types of injuries are commonly observed in competitive sports involving high impact and sudden movements, such as football (soccer). For athletes, particularly footballers, who experience an ACL rupture, the full recovery and return-to-play process after surgery can typically take up to nine months, depending on individual healing rates.
