The exact causes of thymoma tumors are not yet fully understood. However, some studies suggest that exposure to radiotherapy and infection with the Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) at a young age could be potential risk factors. Furthermore, research is ongoing to determine if thymoma is a genetic disease and to clarify the relationship between thymoma and chromosomal structures.
