Polyps in the digestive system pose an increasing risk of developing into cancer as they grow. Early-stage lesions can be effectively removed before malignant transformation, often eliminating the need for further intervention. While standard polypectomy methods, which involve cutting and excising the polyp, carry a risk of local recurrence, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) offers significant advantages. EMR allows for the complete removal of polyps, particularly those larger than 1 cm. This comprehensive excision ensures the provision of adequate tissue for accurate pathological assessment and, crucially, minimizes the likelihood of recurrence.
