In HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate), enlarged prostatic tissue is separated from the prostatic capsule, pushed into the bladder, and then fragmented and removed from the body using a morcellator. While the general outcomes of both laser energy methods are similar, the Thulium laser's superior cutting power and shallower tissue penetration lead to less bleeding, better preservation of the muscles responsible for urinary continence post-surgery, and better ejaculation.
