Reflux symptoms can often be triggered after meals, especially following the consumption of spicy, fatty foods, chocolate, alcohol, or freshly squeezed fruit juices. Key symptoms include a burning sensation radiating from the stomach to the throat (painful burning in the chest), heartburn (which may worsen at night), regurgitation of food and stomach contents into the mouth, difficulty swallowing, and the sensation of food being stuck in the throat. Other common symptoms include belching, hiccups, nausea, vomiting, sore throat, hoarseness, chronic cough, bad breath, and bloating.
