Heel spur injections are used as a second-line treatment for patients who do not benefit from first-line therapy. While this treatment can involve injections of two different substances, cortisone and PRP, cortisone injections are generally used. Patients whose pain persists after the first injection may receive a second injection after 10-15 days. However, these injections are repeated a maximum of two or three times. This is because, in addition to potential drug-related side effects, cortisone can cause tears in the heel spur. PRP injection may be used for patients who do not respond to cortisone. While injection therapy can provide relief for patients, it can also eliminate pain for extended periods and even cure it completely.
