Scarlet fever is a contagious infection caused by Group A streptococcus bacteria, and its main symptoms include:

* Fever above 38°C (100.4°F)
* Widespread bright red rash on the body
* Severe sore throat with difficulty swallowing
* Headache
* A tongue that is initially covered with a white coating, then peels to become bright red with a strawberry-like appearance (strawberry tongue)
* Redness of the face, with paleness around the mouth (perioral pallor)
* Dark red streaks in skin folds such as the armpits, elbows, and knees (Pastia's lines)
* Chills
* Nausea and vomiting
* Abdominal pain
* Swollen neck glands and lymph nodes
* Loss of appetite
