Low PDW (Platelet Distribution Width) is a blood parameter indicating reduced variability in platelet size. This condition often provides clues about bone marrow health and may be an indicator of various underlying health problems rather than a disease in itself. Low PDW values can stem from numerous causes such as unbalanced nutrition, viral infections, certain types of cancer, hepatitis, or severe menstrual bleeding. When low PDW is detected as a result of a blood test, an expert physician may request additional examinations to determine the underlying cause of this condition. Furthermore, symptoms such as fatigue, coldness in hands and feet, chills, dizziness, tinnitus, irritability, and forgetfulness can be associated with the underlying conditions causing low PDW.
