PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) blood levels can be influenced by various factors. Activities that put pressure on the prostate, such as cycling or horse riding, can lead to temporary increases in PSA levels. Furthermore, urological procedures like catheterization of the urinary tract, cystoscopy, or pressure examinations such as prostate massage, can also elevate PSA levels. To obtain an accurate measurement after such situations, it is generally recommended to wait 1 week and repeat the blood test. There is no known negative effect of consumed foods and beverages on PSA test results.
