Oral cancer is a type of cancer characterized by abnormal cell growth in the oral cavity or on the lips. Early diagnosis is critical for treatment success. Surgery is the primary approach for treating these tumors and should be performed with sufficiently wide and safe surgical margins. Intraoperative frozen section pathology of the excised tissue is mandatory. In some cases, chemotherapy may be administered in addition to surgery. Neck dissection is generally required for the treatment of oral cavity cancers, with the exception of hard palate tumors.
