For individuals with coronary artery disease who contract COVID-19, the use of anticoagulants (blood thinners) is generally recommended. Patients who are already on prescribed anticoagulant therapy, such as aspirin, for pre-existing coronary artery disease should continue their medication. However, it is imperative that they inform their physician about their COVID-19 diagnosis to discuss any potential adjustments or additional recommendations. While anticoagulants are crucial in certain medical conditions, they also carry inherent risks, notably the potential for bleeding. Consequently, these medications must be used strictly as directed by a healthcare professional. Self-medication or indiscriminate use of anticoagulants can have serious health implications and is strongly advised against.
