Magnetic Resonance (MR) is one of the most effective and safest imaging methods, as it does not involve radiation. There are no medical contraindications for performing MRI scans on children. However, MRI scans are longer than other imaging methods, which can present challenges when applied to children. Since the patient must remain completely still during the scan, it is often difficult for children to stay motionless for the required duration. To obtain clear and high-quality images, sedation or general anesthesia may be necessary to ensure the child's immobility. While MRI scans performed under anesthesia yield positive results in terms of image quality, it is crucial that an anesthesia team is available and that the MRI room is equipped with the necessary anesthesia devices and equipment. For safety against potential complications, MRI scans requiring anesthesia are more securely performed in well-equipped and experienced hospitals.
