The duration of root canal treatment can vary depending on the number of canals in the tooth to be treated, its location in the mouth, and the degree of infection. If there is no infection or cyst formation within the pulp, the treatment can be completed in a single session. However, since the tooth is often infected, treatment usually takes two sessions.
Each session can last up to 45 minutes. In the first session, the tooth's root canal system is meticulously cleaned and shaped. A local medication is applied to the cleaned area to eliminate harmful microorganisms.
In the second session, if no inflammation has developed within the canal, if the patient experiences no sensitivity in the tooth, if radiographic images are clear, and if no pathology is observed in the surrounding tissues of the tooth, the permanent filling of the tooth is completed.
