Liquid nitrogen, applied via a spray method, is primarily utilized in benign bone tumors, particularly those considered locally aggressive such as giant cell tumors of bone, aneurysmal bone cysts, and chondroblastomas. These tumors typically manifest in patients aged 15-30, an age bracket where skeletal growth is nearing completion or or has already concluded. This demographic is generally preferred for this treatment. However, caution must be exercised, and liquid nitrogen should generally be avoided in tumors affecting growth plates in patients under 15 years of age, as it carries a risk of inhibiting bone growth.
