Physical examination is of critical importance in the diagnosis of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. An orthopedic and traumatology specialist in sports injuries and knee surgery carefully evaluates all structures of the injured knee and compares it with the healthy knee. In cases of severe acute pain, the initial physical examination may be limited. However, advanced imaging techniques, particularly the increasingly common 3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging, help rapidly identify post-injury changes and easily diagnose secondary damage such as accompanying meniscus or cartilage lesions. During the physical examination, the physician evaluates the knee's range of motion and overall joint function by performing specific maneuvers such as the Lachman test, Anterior Drawer Test, and Pivot-Shift test, checking the knee in various positions.
