In the case of a shoulder dislocation, the patient typically seeks medical attention complaining of severe pain, inability to use the arm, and a noticeable deformity in the shoulder joint area. As the first step of treatment, X-ray images must be obtained to identify any potential accompanying fractures and to determine the direction of the dislocation. An X-ray examination should also be performed after the dislocation has been reduced. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is recommended once pain is adequately controlled and under suitable conditions. MRI provides detailed information regarding accompanying bone injuries, particularly soft tissue injuries such as ligaments, tendons, and the labrum.
