Hysterectomy, or uterus removal surgery, is a surgical procedure that can be performed using various methods. The method to be applied is determined by the patient's general health, weight, medical indications, and the surgeon's assessment.

With the advancement of current technology, laparoscopic hysterectomy, which involves making a few small incisions in the abdominal area, is commonly performed. This minimally invasive method can be applied in different ways:

1. Laparoscopic Vaginal Hysterectomy (LVH): After the main ligaments around the uterus are laparoscopically released, the uterus is removed through the vaginal route.
2. Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH): The uterus is completely freed laparoscopically, and one of the incisions in the abdominal wall is slightly enlarged to remove the uterus using a special bag (endobag). Morsellation (breaking tissue into smaller pieces for removal) may be necessary during this procedure.

Another common type of hysterectomy is open hysterectomy. In this traditional surgical method, the uterus is removed through a larger incision made in the abdominal area (typically similar to a Cesarean section incision).
