Diabetic nephropathy screening for adults with diabetes should be conducted annually. For individuals with Type 1 diabetes, screening should commence five years post-diagnosis. For those with Type 2 diabetes, screening should begin at the time of diagnosis. The recommended screening methods include evaluating the estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) and either the urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) or a 24-hour urine albumin level to assess for proteinuria.
