OLIF (Oblique Lumbar Interbody Fusion) surgery is generally preferred for the treatment of degenerative spinal conditions. This surgical method is particularly suitable for the following conditions that arise due to spinal degeneration:
* Mild to moderate spinal stenosis
* Mild spondylolisthesis (spinal slippage)
* Spinal osteoarthritis and associated nerve root compression (radiculopathy)
* Degenerative scoliosis observed in elderly adult patients
* Patients with flatback syndrome (loss of lumbar lordosis)
* Cases where previous lumbar surgeries have been unsuccessful (revision spinal surgery)
However, OLIF surgery is generally not preferred in cases such as spinal fractures or acute spinal traumas.
