As stated by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the first 18 to 24 months following treatment for early-stage laryngeal cancer represent the period with the highest risk of the cancer recurring in the same area. Following this critical initial period, the likelihood of recurrence significantly decreases. Generally, the recurrence rate for early-stage laryngeal cancers is relatively low. Additionally, there is a risk of developing a new primary cancer in another part of the body.
