Colonoscopy is a procedure performed after obtaining patient consent. However, in certain situations, considering the patient's safety and health, it may be advisable to postpone or not perform a colonoscopy. These situations primarily include: inadequate bowel preparation, high risk of bowel perforation, severe bowel inflammation, peritonitis (inflammation of the peritoneum), and patients with a high risk of heart attack.
