PUVA treatment begins with the oral intake of psoralen in tablet form, a substance naturally present in many plants that makes the skin and eyes more sensitive to UV light. Subsequently, the patient is exposed to artificial ultraviolet A (UVA) light within a specialized cabin. During the treatment, it is important for the patient to stand in the center of the cabin to ensure that the UVA light is evenly distributed across the entire body.
