There are two primary methods for fixing a knee prosthesis to the bone.

The first method involves cementing the prosthesis to the bone using a specialized adhesive known as 'bone cement'. When applied, this substance heats up and hardens, creating a strong bond between the prosthesis and the bone.

The second method is the 'uncemented' or 'press-fit' technique. In this method, the prosthesis is directly pressed into the bone, aiming for bone ingrowth into the implant surface. However, the long-term outcomes and reliability of uncemented fixation methods have not yet consistently achieved the high success rates established by cemented methods.
