Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to emerge, located at the very back of the mouth. There might not be enough space in the jawbone for these teeth to fully erupt. This situation can lead to the wisdom tooth partially emerging, exerting pressure on adjacent teeth, or creating a difficult-to-clean space where food can accumulate. Consequently, problems such as cavities in the wisdom tooth or the tooth in front of it, gum inflammation (gingivitis), or pericoronitis may arise. Symptoms like sensitivity, pain, swelling, and tenderness in the lymph nodes can appear in the affected teeth and surrounding tissues. Furthermore, merely suppressing these symptoms temporarily with antibiotics can lead to more severe and recurring infections in the future; it should be remembered that antibiotic treatment does not always provide a definitive solution and does not eliminate the underlying problem.
