Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is a common and highly contagious viral infection. It is primarily characterized by the development of painful mouth sores (ulcers) and a rash of small spots or blisters on the hands and feet. Additional symptoms often include fever, general malaise, and a sore throat. This condition is typically caused by an infection with the coxsackievirus.
